Membership

Becoming a Member

The Mayor's Alliance is open to all people interested in advancing the mission of the organization. Any public and/or private organization, business, corporation, company or individual that pays the membership fee for their representatives shall constitute membership of the Mayor's Alliance. The Mayor's Alliance welcomes all to their breakfast meetings held on the first Wednesday of March, June, September, and December. At present, these meetings are held at the Crowne Plaza Fort Myers Airport, Bell Tower Mall at Cleveland and Daniels Road at 7:30 am. Various employers and employees are recognized at these meeting for their outstanding contributions and cooperation in employing persons with disabilities.

Membership runs calendar year January 1 to December 31.

Membership dues consist of $25.00 per individual/employer. The dues are to be paid by October 1st of each year and are good through December 31st of the following year. When dues are submitted a new membership form must be completed. It is expected that members will select a committee on which to serve.

Why Become a Memeber?

There are many benefits to becoming a member of the Mayor's Alliance: 

  • admission to the quarterly monthly breakfast meeting that offers outstanding business and personal networking opportunities;

  • opportunities to see and hear speakers from your community;

  • information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is available;

  • site accessibility assessments are available;

  • access to informational mailings is made available through other organizations;

  • discounts are offered to select sponsored events;

  • the Alliance is an avenue for service to your community.

 

Board of Directors

The Mayor's Alliance has a Board of Directors who are elected from the current membership of the Alliance. It consists of: five officers (President, Chair of the Board of Directors, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer); ten elected members, one non-elected permanent board member/officer (the employment coordinator) and, six non-voting honorary members (the Florida Governor’s Alliance Board Member, the Executive Director of Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc., and the Mayor's or their designees for the cities of Ft. Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach).

The Board of Directors represents people throughout our community including individuals living in Ft. Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs, Pine Island and North Ft. Myers. The Board is diversified and representative of persons with and without disabilities. The officers and the board members serve a term of one year and may serve up to two successive years. New officers and board members take over their respective offices at the May Board meeting and at the June Breakfast for the general membership.
